Minot Educational Opportunities

Minot Public Schools

We have twelve elementary schools, three middle schools, and a high school on four campuses. Three of our schools (two elementary and one middle school) are located on the Minot Air Force Base, fifteen miles north of the "Magic City".

We operate nine elementary schools (K-5) within the city: Bel Air, Edison, Lewis and Clark, Longfellow, McKinley, Perkett, Roosevelt, Sunnyside, and Washington. There are also two elementary schools (K-6) on the Minot Air Force Base: Dakota and North Plains. Bell School, located five miles east of Minot, was added to the district in 2008.

There are three middle schools in our system. The two in Minot are grades 6-8: Jim Hill in the south and Erik Ramstad in the north; the third, Memorial Middle School (grades 6-8), is located on the Minot AFB.

We have one high school, Minot High School, divided between two campuses. A few blocks east of downtown Minot is Central Campus (grades 9-10), which occupies the original high school building. On the southwest side of the city is Magic City Campus (grades 11-12), just west of Jim Hill Middle School. There are also two alternative high school buildings, Central Campus PLUS and Souris River Campus.

Minot Catholic Schools

The noble endeavor of Catholic education is derived from the dignity and worth of each student that enters our building. Made in the image of God and destined for the happiness that can only be attained through knowing and loving him, our students receive an education that aids them in the pursuit of God through a three-fold formative approach; human, religious, and intellectual. At Bishop Ryan, we count it our greatest privilege to partner with parents in this most important and rewarding task. May God bring our work to fulfillment!

Minot State University

Minot State University (MSU or MiSU) is a four-year institution of higher learning in Minot, North Dakota. Founded in 1913 as a normal school, Minot State University is the third-largest university in North Dakota, offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Minot State University was founded in 1913 and has evolved from a normal school to a Carnegie Master’s I institution, despite the fact that study of a foreign language in not required for a BA. Three colleges comprise the university’s academic offerings: Arts and Sciences, Business, and Education and Health Sciences. Nine master's degrees and one education specialist degree are offered in such areas as communication disorders, management, and mathematics. There is a mix of liberal arts and professional programs offering more than 60 majors at the undergraduate level. MSU is a member of the North Dakota University System, which comprises eleven institutions representing doctoral, master, baccalaureate, and community colleges. The State Board of Higher Education consists of nine members and is the governing board of the System. Minot State University has a Board of Regents acting as an advisory board and champion for the institution.

Minot State's mascot is the beaver and the school colors are red and green (though Maroon has sometimes been used in the past). The campus newspaper is called the Red and Green. MSU's campus is at the base of North Hill, just west of Broadway.

Our Redeemer's Christian School

Our Redeemer's Christian School is a Pre-K through Grade 12 Christian School that  offers more than just an education. We educate with the entire person in mind: body, mind, and soul. Beyond just informing student's minds, we seek to be a place in which our students grow deeper in their understanding of the Gospel.
